Cupcakes:
1/4 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 t. baking powder
1 egg
1/2 t. salt
1 t. vanilla
2/3 c. milk

Chocolate Sauce:
1 c. sugar
2 T. cocoa
2 T. butter
2 T. flour
1 t. vanilla
1 c. hot water

Cupcakes:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Sift in dry ingredients alternately with milk. Mix well after each addition.

Pour into greased muffin tins and bake at 350º for 20 minutes.

Chocolate Sauce:
Combine sugar, cocoa, flour and butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add water and stir. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. When it thickens, add vanilla.
