2 cups pinto beans
1 1/2 cups cold water
1/2 lb. salt pork or bacon, cut up
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cumin
1 clove garlic
1 medium onion, chopped
3 oz tomato paste
1 red chile pepper
1 1/2 tbsp. chile powder
1/2 tsp. marjoram

Directions:
Soak beans overnight. Put into bean pot next morning and bring to boil; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 1 hour. Add other ingredients; cover and simmer 3 hours or until done. Add water as necessary.
