3/4 c. shortening
1c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. water
3/4 tsp. almond extract
1 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 1/2 cups oats
1 c. dried cherries
Optional: 1 c. semi sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

1. Heat oven to 350º
2. In large bowl, cream shortening and sugars. Add egg, water, and extract. Mix in flour and salt.
3. Stir in oats, cherries and chocolate chips.
4. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12 minutes.
