12 tbsps. butter
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter, add sugar and molasses and mix thoroughly. Lightly beat egg and add to butter mixture; blend well.
Mix flour with spices, salt, and baking soda. Add to first mixture and mix well. Batter will be fairly wet.

Drop heaping teaspoons of cookie batter on baking sheet, leaving 3 inches between cookies. Bake until cookies start to darken, 8 to 10 minutes.

For some reason, these cookies always turn out better when using Grandma's (brand) unsulphured molasses.
