Crust ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 cups oatmeal
2 cubes (1 cup) of butter/marg. (soften)
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 tsp. each baking soda & salt
Carmel sause:
1/2 of each: brown sugar, white sugar, butter/marg., milk and water
1 TBSP flour
1 package of chocolate chips or chunks

Directions:

Combine flour, oatmeal, butter (soft), brown sugar, baking soda and salt together and mix with pastry cutter or fork. Place half of mixture on bottom of grease (spray Pam) 9x13 pan. Cook @ 350º for 10-12 minutes. While cooking, make carmel sauce. Melt butter in small sauce pan, add flour then stir until absorbed. Add remaining sauce ingredients and bring to boil for 5 minutes. Remove crust from oven and place chocolate chips on baked crust. Pour carmel on top of chocolate chips. Then sprinkle remaing half of crust on top and bake for another 15-20 minutes.

This is my children's favorite cookie/brownie! I made these for the pool party before the 2007 cruise. They are so rich that I cut them quite small (1x1").
