1c shortening or 1/2c oil and 1/2c shortening 2c white sugar or 1/2c molasses and 1 1/4c sugar 2c natural bran 4 eggs 3c buttermilk or soured milk 1tbsp baking powder 3 3/4c flour 1tbsp baking soda 1/2c hot water Add 1c raisins or dates
Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs, buttermilk, baking powder, flour, and bran. Add baking soda and water. Pour over top of mix. I throw everything in my mixer and mix. Bake @ 375 for 20-25 min. Makes 2 1/2 doz large muffins
