1 c butter
3/4 c cocoa
2 c sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 c all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 c chopped walnuts
shortening to grease the pan

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees, then smear the inside of an 8 or 9 inch baking pan with shortening. Melt the butter over a low heat. In a mixing bowl, stir the cocoa and sugar together. Add the flour and salt, and mix just until smooth. If you are adding walnuts, now is the time. Scrape the mixture into the prepared pan and smooth into an even layer. Bake in a 350 oven for 40-50 minutes, until the brownies just begin to pull away from the sides of the pan. Let cool before cutting.
