"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

Ingredients:
Brownie
1 cup sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Maple Butter Sauce
3/8 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup butter
3/8 cup brown sugar
8 oz. cream cheese - softened
½ tsp. maple extract or flavoring

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Sift flour, add baking powder, baking soda and salt. Sift again. Add chopped nuts. Mix well and set aside.
Melt butter. Add brown sugar and mix well. Add egg and vanilla extract. Blend well. Add flour mixture, a little at a time, mixing well. Stir in white chocolate chips. Spread in a 9-inch square pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean or with slightly fudgy-looking crumbs.
Combine syrup and butter, cook over low heat until butter is melted. Stir in brown sugar until dissolved. Remove from heat and beat in cream cheese and maple extract until smooth. Heat again either over low heat or in the microwave at short intervals to reach desired sauce consistency.
Cut into squares and top with ice cream, maple butter sauce, and walnuts. Add whipped cream for a more impressive dessert.

Personal Notes:
I (Allison) got this recipe from my good friend Justin Henson, it is a replica from the Applebee's Blondie. In my opinion it is better than the original. I made this for the first Progressive Dinner that we had in 2004, it was a big hit.
