Spice Cake:
1 1/2 c. milk & 1 tbsp. vinegar (mix and let curdle)
3/4 c. vegetable shortening
1 1/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. salt
Mocha Frosting:
6 tbsp. margarine
1 egg yolk
3 c. confectioner's sugar
1 1/2 tbsp. cocoa powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tbsp. hot coffee

Grease & flour two 9 in. round cake pans. Preheat oven to 350º. Mix together shortening, brown sugar, sugar & eggs. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves & salt. Alternately, add flour & curdled milk to sugar mixture. Bake 35 - 40 minutes. Once cooled, mix all ingredients for mocha frosting. Slather on icing for one amazing spice cake!
