Single crust unbaked pie shell in 9 inch pie pan
3/4 c dark corn syrup
1/3 c sugar
1/3 c brown sugar
4 eggs, beaten
1/3 c melted butter (preferable unsalted)
1 teas vanilla extract
pinch of salt ( omit if using salted butter)
1 cup lightly toasted pecans (it brings out the flavor)

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
So all by hand.
Combine: corn syrup, sugars,stirring well. Stir in eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and salt until well blended.Sprinkle toasted pecan on bottom of unbaked pie shell. Pour filling over. Bake for 45 min. Cover edges of pastry if pie browns too quickly. Let cool completely.

One Christmas Steve Rhodes our friend, and taxidermist came for dinner. He is from Virginia. I made this pie for him. He said it was the best he'd eaten. Guess it's a winner!
