1 cup quick oatmeal
1 1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup Crisco
2 eggs
1 teaspoon soda
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 pound butter
1/4 cup cream
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup nuts
1/2 cup coconut
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Pour the boiling water over the oatmeal and let stand while mixing the following: 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup white sugar, 2 eggs and 1/2 Crisco. Cream this mixture together and add oatmeal mixture. Add the soda, flour, vanilla, salt and baking powder. Mix well. Bake in a 9x11 cake pan at 350º for 30 - 35 minutes. To prepare the frosting, melt the 1/4 pound butter, cream, 1/2 cup brown sugar, nuts, coconut and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Put the topping on the cake while still warm after melting on the stove.
