1/2 cup shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 cup mashed banana
2 cups flour
2 teas baking powder
1/4 teas soda
1/4 teas salt
1/2 teas cinnamon
1/4 teas cloves
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Lemon Butter Icing
1/3 cup soft butter
3 cups powdered sugar
about 2 Tbl lemon juice
1/2 teas lemon peel

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and banana. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and chill about 1 hour. Heat oven to 375º. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes; cool and frost with lemon butter icing.

Browned Butter Icing: Before blending, brown butter in saucepan over medium heat until delicate brown. Substitute milk and 1 1/2 teas vanilla for lemon juice and peel.

I've made this both ways, and they are equally delicious.
