Pea Soup Recipe

In very large pan add
1 pkg dried split peas
4 quarts water
Heat to boiling and boil uncovered 2 minutes, remove from heat
Cover and let stand 1 hour

Add ham bone or 2# ham shanks or hocks
1 bag Manischewitz split pea soup mix

Heat above to boiling again, reduce heat to low
Cover and simmer about 3 hours
Remove ham bone, cut ham off bone
(If using ham shanks or hocks, remove and discar
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp accent seasoning
Stir cut off ham back into soup, cover and continue to cook over low heat for another 15 minutes
