1 cup shortening
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
11.5 ounce bag milk chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Whip the shortening, sugar, and eggs until creamy. Then add everything but the chocolate chips. After two cups of flour, gradually add the additional 1/4 cup until dough isn't sticky when touched. Add the chocolate chips. You may use more or less, as desired. Bake at 375 for approximately 10 minutes.

We love to add pecan chunks to these cookies. We also like making them with 1/2 shortening, 1/2 butter. It gives them the softness of shortening but adds the flavor of butter.
