3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup light molasses
1 egg, beaten
2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground ginger

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

2. Cream shortening and sugar; add molasses and egg. Beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients; mix well. Roll in small balls; dip into sugar; place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

3. Bake for 15 minutes at 375 degrees.
