This recipe for Soft Oatmeal Cookies 2, by Rhonda Allen, is from The Allen Family Favorite Recipes,

1 cup raisins 1/2 cup water 1 cup sugar 3/4 cup shortening 2 eggs, beaten 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon dash salt 1 cup applesauce 2 cups flour 2 cups dry quick oatmeal
1. Combine raisins and water is a saucepan; bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 2 minutes. Set aside to cool. Cream sugar and shortening and add the beaten eggs, raisins and liquid, soda, cinnamon and salt. Mix well. Add flour and mix well. Add oatmeal and mix well. Drop by spoonfuls on to greased cookie sheets. Bake in a 400 degree oven 10 or 12 minutes or until golden brown.
2. Note: If applesauce is used, add 2 tablespoons flour and 2 tablespoons additional to batter.
