3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
6 T. cocoa
2 tsp.soda
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 c. salad oil (or melted margarine)
2 T. vinegar
2 c. cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Make three holes in this mixture. Into one; put the vinegar, into the next; salad oil and into the third; the vanilla. Pour water over all. Beat until blended. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake in a 350º oven for 25-30 minutes or until tests done.

This was a very frequently prepared dessert while I was growing up. It provided enough for everybody to have a piece for dessert for supper with just enough left over for Dad's lunch pail the next day!
