2 c. luke warm water
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 t. salt
2 cakes yeast
1 egg
1/4 c. melted shortening
6 1/2 c.-7 c. flour

Combine salt and yeast with water and stir until dissolved.
Stir in egg and melted shortening and mix well by hand.
Add flour a little at a time until dough is easy to handle.
Put into greased bowl and cover with waxed paper and a damp cloth.
Sit in "ice box" and use when needed
Let rise 1 1/2 -2 hours
"When done spread butter on rolls"
Bake 12-15 minutes at 400
