1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar

1/4 c. milk

3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla and mix. In separate bowl combine remaining dry ingredients; sift and add to creamed mixture. Form dough into ball and chill at least an hour. Roll out dough (on waxed paper dusted with flour to prevent sticking) 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake 350º 8-10 minutes (take out while slightly underbaked and before they brown). Cool and frost. Store in airtight container with a slice of bread to keep them soft. The key is to cut cookies thick and do not overbake. YUM!
