1 stick oleo (1/4 pound)
1c. brown sugar
1c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp.vanilla
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. oatmeal
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp.soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over oatmeal. Let stand 20 min. or longer till cool. Cream oleo and sugars. Beat eggs. Add to sugar mixture. Add oatmeal. Last add flour, salt and spices. Mix well and bake in an ungreased 9x13 pan at 350 for 45 min. or until done.

FROSTING
1 1/2 coconut
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. evaporated milk
1/2 stick oleo
Cook (boil) over low heat at least 1 min. Spread on cake while still warm. Nuts may be added. Place under broiler until bubbly.

I usually double the recipe for the frosting because David never thought a single batch was enough and a batch and a half was too hard to figure out!
