2 cups flour, sifted
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 egg
1 cup apple, raw grated
1 1/2 tablespoons evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9x5 loaf pan.

2. Mix together flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

3. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beat well after each addition.

4. Add grated apple, milk and vanilla. Beat until smooth.

5. Fold in nuts and pour into bread loaf pan. Mix together 3 tbls sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over batter..

6. Bake for 1 hour.
