2 Cups sugar, scant
4 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup sour milk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup water, boiling

1/3 cup milk
4 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 1/2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate
2 to 3 cups powdered sugar

1. Preheat over to 350 degrees. Grease 13"x9" cake pan.

2. Mix together sugar and cocoa. Mix sour milk and baking soda. Add milk mixture and shortening through baking powder. Mix. Add boiling water.

3. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

4. Make frosting: In top of double boiler, mix milk, butter and chocolate. Melt. Add 2 to 3 cups powdered sugar and cook. Check by dropping a small amount of frosting in cold water to get the spreading consistency you desire.
