1 c. sugar
1/2 c. oleo or butter
1/4 c. buttermilk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
3 - 4 ripe bananas, mashed
chopped nuts optional

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar & oleo, beating until fluffy. Add eggs, buttermilk and bananas, beating well after each addition.
Sift together dry ingredients and slowly add to banana mixture. Bake in a large, greased loaf pan (or 2 small loaf pans) at 350º for one hour, or until done. (Bread is done when toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The bread will crack down the middle before it is done.)
