Beans:
1 (16 oz.) pkg. dry (pinto beans) or Great Northern)
1 ham bone or bacon slices
Salt to taste
1 onion, cut up

Dumplings:
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Stir together. They will be stiff.

Directions:
Directions:
Cook beans and meat until tender; add dumplings. Drop by spoonfuls into boiling beans. Cook for 5 to 10 minutes.
