2 c. flour
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
2 very ripe bananas
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Butterscotch Frosting:
6 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 3/4 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. cream (or milk)
Dash of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Place all ingredients in bowl and beat with electric mixer at medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour into 10 x 15 pan, greased and floured. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool and frost with butterscotch frosting.

Frosting: Melt butter. Add brown sugar, salt, and cream. Boil vigorously for 1 minute. Cool slightly. Add vanilla and powdered sugar. Beat with a spoon. Spread on banana bars.
