1/3 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla

4 quarts popcorn

Directions:
Mix all together. Cook, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Continue cooking without stirring until syrup forms a brittle ball in cold water. Add vanilla. Pour over popcorn and stir quickly. Makes about 8 large balls.

Warning - coat your hands with butter before forming the balls to keep the very hot mixture from sticking to your skin.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
It was never Christmas without making a few batches of popcorn balls. We usually made three or four different colors and the actual forming of the balls was normally a job taken on by the kids.
