1 cup butter or margarine (I use butter)
1/2 cup milk
2 cups sugar
1 cup nuts, either added to the batter or sprinkled on top of batter
1/2 cup cocoa, add
1/2 cup boiling water to form a smooth paste
4 eggs ( you can use 2 and have chewier brownie)
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

Cream sugar and butter or margarine, add cocoa mixture and eggs. Add flour and milk alternately. Fold in nuts. Spread on cookie sheet or baking pan, depen­ding on how thick you want the brownies. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes and frost.

FROSTING FOR BROWNIES
1/2 cube margarine or butter, melted 4 tablespoons cocoa
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup kayro syrup
Mix all together, with a tiny bit of hot water to form a smooth frosting. This will be like fudge. Yum Yum
Spread on brownies quickly and sprinkle with chopped nuts.

This recipe came from a friend of my moms (Irene Crum). Pat Harris had a bakery in Plains WA. called the Red Cabin. Everything she made was really good.
