1/4 cup or 1/2 stick butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 cups chopped onions
1 clove garlic (minced)
8 cup sliced okra (tips and tops removed)
7 cups chopped tomatoes
2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. sweet paprika
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. salt
juice of 1/2 a lemon
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. worcestershire sauce
3 Tbsp. ketchup

Directions:
In a large non stick pot melt butter and saute onions and garlic until golden(about 5 min)
Remove onion and garlic with slotted spoon and set aside. Heat the vegetable oil, add okra and cook 10 minutes (stirring often). Add remaining ingredients ( including cooked onions and garlic) cover and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes (stir occasionally). Serve over rice. Taste best if made a day in advance.
