1 lb. bulk sweet Italian sausage
1/2 lb. ground beef
1 tbsp. whole basil

1 can (1 lb) stewed tomatos
2 cans (6 oz. each) tomato paste
6 large wide lasagna moodles
Cheese filling (see below)
1 lb. mozzarella cheese, thinly slices

Brown meats slowly in skillet or saucepan. Add basi. salt, 1 cup water and next 2 ingredients. Bring to boil and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes, or until desired consistency. Meanwhile, cook noodles in boiling salted water with olive oil until tender. Drain and arrange half in 13"x9"x2" baking dish. Spread with half the filling, then cover with half the cheese and half the meat sauce. Repeat layers. Bake in preheated 375F oven about 30 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting into squares. Can be frozen.
