1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1/2 cup sugar
1 heaping tsp baking powder
1 large cup flour
4 egg yolks
5 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla

4 egg whites, beaten stiff
1 cup sugar

Cream butter and sugar to a light cream
Mix in beaten egg yolks
Add flour & baking powder alternately with milk
Mix well
Add vanilla
Put in 2 greased & floured 8" cake pans

Add sugar to beaten egg whites and beat
Spread on top of cake mixture
Then sprinkle coconut on top
Bake @300
Custard Filling:
1 egg
3 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp cornstarch
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
Boil until thick. Cool and spread between layers of cooled cake
