Personal Notes:
Jo's "German Apple Cake" was one of those recipes that she didn't actually have written down. I had her create the cake while I jotted it down, so it may not read as well as a formally written recipe. I was always impressed with how beautifully the apples were layered when she made this cake. (Mine never came out quite as artistic!) She loved to bake! This cake would often be dessert after a meal at her apartment, where her favorite company dinner to prepare was roasted Cornish game hens! (Again, no recipe exists for how she prepared them, but she did put slices of apple inside as they roasted.)
