6 Granny Smith apples
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar
3 tbsp. butter
1/3 c. Karo syrup (blue label)
2 prepared pie crusts, unbaked

Topping:
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
3 tbsp. Karo syrup
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Line pie plate with lower crust. Cut up pie-size pieces of apples and put on top of lower crust. Combine cornstarch, cinnamon, salt, sugar, butter, and Karo syrup. Pour over the apples. Cover with the top crust and bake in a 350º oven for 1 hour.

For the topping, combine brown sugar, flour, Karo syrup, butter, and walnuts. Cook over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Pour over the top crust of the finished pie. Serve warm.

This is Kathy Repola's recipe. If you do the topping in the last 15 minutes of baking, you will be able to pour the warm topping on the pie as it comes out of the oven.
