"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

1/2 c brown sugar

Directions:
Melt the butter in a large saute pan over low heat. Add the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and stir until well mixed. Add the bananas and saute until they begin to soften, turning carefully once or twice. Add the liqueur and rum and allow them to heat well, then tip the pan so the burner flame ignites the sauce OR if you are using electric heat ignite with a match. Tip the pan with a circular motion to prolong the flaming.

Place 2 banana halves on each plate and top with a scoop of ice cream then top with some of the sauce. Serve immediately.
