6 Italian sausages, (5 mild, 1 hot), cut into pieces
6 cloves garlic, minced
2 green peppers, cut into strips
1 red pepper, cut into strips
1 onion, chopped
2 large cans crushed plum tomatoes
1 teaspoon salt or to taste
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 shake crushed red pepper
1/2 - 1 teaspoon sugar, to taste
5 - 6 leaves basil, chopped

Cook pasta in salted water. Sauté sausage in olive oil; remove. Add peppers, garlic and onions to oil. Simmer. Do not brown. Add tomatoes, spices and sausage. Simmer 10 minutes. Add basil leaves last; simmer 5 minutes. Serve over pasta.
Makes 8-10 servings.
