2 sticks butter, softened)
1/2 cup buttermilk
4 eggs
2 tbsp. orange rind, graded
1 cup pecans, chopped
2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 small bag coconut
1 pkg. dates, cut fine
1 cup fresh orange juice (for glaze)
1 3/4 cup sugar

Cream butter and sugar together. Sift all dry ingredients together. Add alternately dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter and sugar mixture. Add eggs, beat well after each. Mix together in small bowl the orange rind, nuts, dates and coconut. Stir into cake batter.

Bake 350 in greased and floured tube pan 1 hour 15 min.

Glaze: In a sauce pan mix 1 cup fresh orange juice
and 1 3/4 cups sugar together, bring to a boil. pour over hot cake while still in tube pan. Let stand until cool. Remove from pan.
