1 c Shortening
3 c Sugar
6 Eggs, Separated
3 c Flour
1/4 t Soda
1/4 t Salt
1 c Buttermilk
1 t Vanilla
1 t Almond Extract
1 t Butter Flavoring
1 T Poppy Seeds

1 c Powdered Sugar
1/2 c Lemon Juice
1 T Butter Flavoring
1 t Lemon Extract

Cream sugar and shortening; add egg yolks, one at a time, and beat well until creamy. Mix dry ingredients and add to egg yolk mixture
alternately with buttermilk. Add extracts and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and poppy seeds. Bake in a well greased tube pan 1 hour at 350 or until done.

Glaze: Mix ingredients and brush on warm cake.

If you don't have the time or don't want to take the time to mix the cake the way the directions state, put everything except the poppy seeds in the mixing bowl and mix well.
