2 cups flour
2/3 cup shortening
1/3 cup cocoa
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup boiling water
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Sift the first four ingredients, set aside. Cream the next three ingredients with electric mixer. Into creamed mixture alternate the dry ingredients with the buttermilk. Stir in boiling water, mixing well. Add vanilla. Cake batter will be thin. Grease and flour a 9x13 or two round cake pans. Bake at 350º for 25 to 30 minutes. Overbaking will ruin the texture of the cake. Cool and frost with the chocolate buttercream frosting recipe.
