1 box yellow cake mix reserve 2/3 cup of mix
1 stick butter
1 egg...

2/3 cup of reserved cake mix
1 1/2 cup dark Karo syrup
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans

Directions:
Melt butter and mix with egg and cake mix,,, mix thoroughly, pat into a 9X13 inch cake pan
bake at 350º for 15 minutes
mix filling...
2/3 cup reserved cake mix,, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 1/2 cup dark Karo syrup and three eggs, mix well,,, pour over baked crust and sprinkle the pecans on top,,, return to oven and bake at 350º
for 30 to 35 minutes...let cool and slice into squares..

I lined the cake pan with parchment paper, made it easier to cut into squares,, but if you do not have parchment paper, use baking spray or butter and flour the pan
