½ cup butter or margarine

1 cup sugar

4 eggs

1 can (1 lb) chocolate flavored syrup

1 tsp vanilla

1½ cups sifted flour

1 tsp baking powder

¼ tsp salt

1 cup chopped walnuts (Aunt Judy doesn't use these)

1 qt vanilla ice cream, softened

Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar until light & fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in chocolate syrup & vanilla.

Sift together flour, baking powder & salt. Gradually stir into creamed mixture. Stir in walnuts.

Pour mixture in greased 15½" x 10½" x 1" jelly roll pan.

Bake in moderate oven (350º) 30 minutes or until it tests done. Cool well.

Remove cake from pan and cut in half, making two 7 ½" x 5" pieces.

Spread ice cream over one layer and top with other layer. Wrap tightly in aluminum foil and freeze. Before serving, cut into 3 sections. Cut each section into 8 slices. Makes 24 slices.
