2 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 c pumpkin
1 egg
1/2 c nuts
1/2 c dates or raisins


Frosting:
3 tbsp butter
4 tbsp milk
1/2 c brown sugar
1 c powdered sugar
3/4 tsp vanilla
Nuts (optional)
Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients. Cream shortening and sugar. Add pumpkin and egg. Beat well, then add dry ingredients. Stir until smooth. Add vanilla, nuts, and dates. Drop by spoonfuls on cookie sheet. Bake 350º for 10 - 12 minutes.
Frosting: Mix butter, milk, and brown sugar in pan and boil 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Cool. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Sprinkle nuts on top.
