3 cups flour, 2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar, 1/2 cup margarine or butter-cut into cubes, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, 1 cup buttermilk, 1 large egg, 1tsp. vanilla extract, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt

1. Preheat oven to 350. Coat 9x13 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Combine flour, brown sugar, and margarine in medium bowl; blend using pastry blender or forks until crumbly. Stir in walnuts. Set aside 1 cup of mixture for topping.
3. Combine buttermilk, egg, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in medium bowl; whisk until smooth. Add buttermilk mixture to flour mixture; stir until smooth. Pour batter into prepared pan, spreading to smooth top. Sprinkle evenly with reserved flour mixture.
4. Bake 30 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
