1 lb. round steak, cut in 1 in. cubes
3 onions, slices
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 5 oz. can tomato paste
3 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. thyme
6-8 cups beef broth
worcestershire sauce
Flour or cornstarch (to thicken)
water

Directions:
Directions:
In a deep pot, add beef, onions, garlic and oil. Cook and stir until beef is brown and onions are tender. Add tomoto paste, paprika and thyme. Stir and mix well. Add beef broth and worcestershire sauce until combined. Simmer over low heat 1-2 hours. Thicken soup with flour or cornstarch and water.

While living in Germany, we found that every village had a Gasthaus and each Gasthaus had their own version of Goulaschsuppe. Since it was our favorite, I asked my German landlord for her recipe, converted it from the metric measurements and adapted it so it was the way our family liked it most. This is a hearty soup and is wondeful the next day. Guten Essen!!!
