1 8oz pkg Cream Cheese, softened
1 C Margarine 2 1/4 C Cake Flour
1 1/2 C sugar 1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla 3/4 C Chopped
4 Eggs Maraschino Cherries,
1/2 C Chopped Pecans well drained
Glaze:
1/2 C chopped pecans 2 T milk
1 1/2 C powdered sugar

Combine cream cheese and margarine, granulated sugar and vanilla, mixing at medium speed until well blended. Add eggs , one at a time, mixing well after each addition. sift together 2 C Flour and baking powder. Gradually add to cream cheese mixture, mix well. Toss remaining flour with cherries and pecans; fold into batter.
Grease a 10 inch tube pan and sprinkle with finely chopped pecans. Pour batter in pan. Bake at 325
º for 1 hour and 10 minutes; cool 5 minutes and remove from pan. Cool and apply glaze.

I lost this recipe for many years and finally found it again about 10 years ago. Very much like a pound cake. Beat well. This cake freezes well wrapped in moisture proof wrap. Thaw at room temp. Can be made in coffee cans etc. Travels well.
Substitute Dried Cranberries for cherries and 2 T orange juice for milk and 1 tsp grated orange peel.
