1/2 cup shortening, 1/2 cup sugar,
1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup peanut butter
1 egg, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, 1 3/4 cups flour,
1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, 36 peanuts

Directions:

Butter a cookie sheet, set aside.
In a bowl, cream shortening, sugar and brown sugar. Fold in peanut butter, egg and vanilla extract. In a second bowl, sift flour, baking soda and salt. Fold into first mixture. Mix to a smooth dough. Shape dough into 1 - inch balls. Using a fork, previously dipped in hot water, lightly flatten balls. Decorate each one with a peanut. Bake in 350º oven for 10-12 minutes.
