1 pound ground beef
1 egg, beaten
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons onion, minced
1 can cream of mushroom soup

Directions:
Directions:
Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt, pepper onion and celery. Shape into an oval patty, about 1-inch thick. Using a small amount of butter, brown on both sides in a skillet. Combine the soup and water; pour around the meat. Cook slowly in covered skillet for 25 minutes. If desired, put boiled potatoes around the meat. Soup and meat juices will make gravy without further thickening.

Cream of celery or cream of chicken soup can be used in place of mushroom soup.
