1 c butter, softened
1 c oil
1 c sugar
1 c sifted powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
4 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
Beat butter and oil on medium speed until blended. Gradually add 1 c sugar and powdered sugar, beating well. Add eggs and vanilla, beating until blended. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients; add to butter mixture, mixing well. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased sheet. Bake at 350º for 9-10 minutes. Sprinkle with additional sugar while warm. Freeze cookies in airtight container up to 1 month. NOTE: Butter tastes really good, but cookies are greasy feeling. Maybe make with oleo or shortening instead of half shortening and half butter.
