1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
2 squares of baking chocolate
1/2 cup pecans or walnuts
3/4 cup flour
1 pinch salt
1/2 tsp vanilla

Serves: 8-12
Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Melt chocolate and cool to room temperature. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and mix well. Add cooled chocolate and mix. Add rest of ingredients and mix. Pour into greased 8x8x2 pan. Bake at 350º for 15-20 minutes.

These were the brownies that our dear Aunt Frances (Grace Webb was Frances' mother) always had ready for the Lautzes when we arrived at Keuka Lake in upper state New York. They are a cake like brownie and not overly rich.
