1 peck (8 quarts) green tomatoes, 2 1/2 lbs. brown sugar, 2 lbs. raisins, 1 lb. beef suet chopped, 1/2 c. vinegar 2 tbsp. salt, 2 tbsp. cinnamon, 1tsp. cloves, 2 tsp. nutmeg, 2 c. chopped apples.

Slice tomatoes thinly or put thru chopper. allow to drain , cover with cold water and place over fire and boil for 5 min. Drain well, add suet, vinegar, fruit and spices. Return to fire and allow to simmer 30 to 45 minutes.

Place in containers of choice and freeze.

This recipe was from our Grandma Ruth Holgate and I'm sorry to say we do not know if it had been from her family. I laughed when I read it for the first time as had to look up how much a peck was. Also I found the electric stove was just as good as any fire....
