4 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 stick butter
1 1/2 c sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 c vegetable oil
nuts/raisins can be added
1 tsp anise flavor

Gather dough into a ball.
Divide into 4 pieces.
Roll into log shape (dough will be soft)
Place on waxed paper lined with sugar and coat all sides.
Place on greased cookie sheet, have enough room for each log to expand, (do not crowd)
Bake in 350 oven for 25 - 30 minutes
Remove from oven and cut while still warm

Store in a tight container if they last that long.
