1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. molasses
2 Tbls vinegar
1 1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
2-3 t. ground ginger
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. cloves
5 c. sifted flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar and egg together until fluffy.
Add molasses and vinegar. Beat well.
Add soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves beat until well blended.
Add flour slowly. Dough will be stiff.
Chill for 3 or more hours.

Roll dough out on floured pastry cloth to be 1/8 " thick.

Cut out ginger bread boys or bears and place 1" apart on greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 375 degree for 5-6 minutes.
